SPICE/EDA Tools

LTspice IV – Linear Technology – A fully functional SPICE engine and LT device models.  On the same page there are User guides, device models, and other useful design simulation programs.

TINA-TI, Texas Instruments version of SPICE – This SPICE engine can be downloaded from Texas Instruments website. It is free, fully functional, and can be used with the Texas Instruments component models.

National Instruments Multisim – This is the National Instruments Multisim Pro schematic capture, with a Berkeley SPICE simulation engine. You can create designs with a mixture of manufacturers’ device models and SPICE standard components for analog, digital and electromechanical components. National Instruments has a version for professionals and a version for students and educators.

TopSPICE – Penzar –  This is a demo version with a limited number of nodes, transistors and subcircuits, but it is great for non-professional applications.

PSpice – Cadence Design Systems, Inc. –  A fully functional student version.  The only limitation is the number of nodes and components.  Great for learning.  (Link submitted by Scott Hamilton).

SIMetrix Technologies Ltd – SIMetrix is a general purpose spice simulation package that is optimised for fast simulation of switching power supply designs. It also has a sister simulator – not based on spice – called SIMPLIS for “very” fast simulation of intensive switching designs such as SMPS, PLL and complex modulation schemes. Although it is a commercial offering, the free demo version has very generous node and device limits. Registered copies of the demo version even qualify for email support. PartSim – This is a simple interface yet effective full SPICE engine. It is free and can be used for learning as well as for projects. It can also generate a bill of materials. (Link submitted by EEWeb.com ).

EasyEDA – EasyEDA is a web-based EDA suite of tools. It can capture a schematic, simulate it and generate the PCB Gerber files. PCBA fabrication service is also available. Depending on the complexity of their projects, users can choose between a subscription-free membership and a payed monthly subscription.

MakerPro – MakerPro has projects which are fun to follow. It is a place for makers to design and collaborate with one another. Also, MakerPro has tutorials that will help build skills. Worth checking it out.
